Aglaya Shuplyakova was born in St. Petersburg. She graduated from the Secondary Special Music School of the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory (class of Mikhail Kraits), then, in 2001– from the St. Petersburg
Conservatory (class of Professor Gleb Nikitin). The flutist is a laureate of the International Competition of Performers on Woodwind Instruments in Moscow (II prize, 1994) and the International Competition of Young Performers of Academic Music "Concertino Prague"; (Czech Republic, II Prize, 1996). In addition, in 1997, as a student of the Conservatory, Aglaya Shuplyakova was awarded the title of the winner of the grant competition 'Muses of St. Petersburg". As an ensemblist, she performed in the best concert halls of St. Petersburg, Moscow, Portugal. Since 2000, she has been a soloist and an artist of the Mariinsky Symphony Orchestra.
